Poppy Ridsdill

Meet Poppy, our founder and lead wedding painter.

Poppy has painted and illustrated for much of her adult life, studying Graphic Design Illustration at university, finishing with the student of the year award, backpacking throughout the world while painting gifts for the people she met, and eventually starting her own business, iampoppy Designs in 2013. 

Poppy is mum to two children, Aidan and Madeleine. While she is English, she has actually spent more of her life in Australia than in the UK, arriving here at the ripe age of 24. (she started her first 12 years overseas in Holland and Malaysia)

Poppy started painting live at weddings and events in 2019, when a stationery client from USA asked if she could paint them on the day. Having never heard of this, she quickly set off to study at google university and after a short browse, said yes to the client and booked in her first job in Byron Bay. 

Although really nervous, as she had not painted portraits much, she soon realised she loved it, and started booking more and more weddings, until the dreaded C word happened…that’s Covid btw, 😉

Still leaning on her new skills of painting people, she focused on portraits over covid and once weddings opened back up, she was back up and running with even more skills than before. 

2024 see’s the launch of Live Artist Collective, and collection of ahh-mazing artists brought together by Poppy to create memories for more couples than before. Being able to help fellow artist forge a living doing what they love is the driving passion behind the collective, and piggy backing along with iampoppy Designs, means these artists are more visible in the wedding space, so they too can hit the ground running!
